Belonged to Nathaniel Barrell (1732-1831). Born in Boston, MA, son of John Barrell and Ruth (Greene) Barrell. Portsmouth, NH, merchant. Married 1758 Sally (Sayward) Barrell (1737-1805), daughter of Jonathan Sayward (1713-1797) & Sarah (Mitchell) Sayward (c1719-1775) of York, ME. Lieutenant in General Wolfe's army at Quebec. According to family tradition, brought plate back from trip to England in 1763 when attended coronation of George III. Sandemanian. Passive loyalist during Revolution. Experimental farmer. Delegate to Massachusetts constitutional convention, voted to ratify the US Constitution in 1787. Representative to General Court of MA in 1794.
