Image Info The foot bridge over the Meduxnekeag River in Houlton made it easier for the Highland Hotel owners, James Archibald, Ransford W. Shaw, George Nickerson and George A. Hall, to walk from their homes to the Hotel.

It was replaced in 1896 by a bridge jointly financed by the Highland Hotel and the Town of Houlton.
