Image Info The Laffaty Brothers were wagon builders in Caribou in the 1890s and 1900s. This model uses potatoes to indicate the great load-bearing capacity of the wagon design.

Note that the wagon is of "drop-axel" design; the freight bed is lower than the wheel hubs. This design was popular at the time because the the wagon had a lower center of gravity and it was easier to load.
