"Shown here is a side view of Eban Moody Boynton's Cycle No. 1, built for his Boynton Bicycle Railway. The monorail engine had a double-flanged 93-inch-diameter single driving wheel. The engine weighed 22 tons and was 15.5 feet high and 4 feet wide. It was built in 1889 and ran on a line to Coney Island, New York." --Fletcher, David H. "The Portland Company 1846-1982."
