Frank Longstaff began the farm in the 1910s and it was later acquired by Jake Shur and then owned by his son, Arthur Shur.

Seed potatoes are potatoes grown under careful conditions to minimize diseases to produce healthy clones of parent plants. After harvesting, each potato is cut up so that each piece has at least one "eye" in it. These pieces are sold to other farmers to plant.
