Surveyors working under the authority of the Commissioners of the 7th Articles of the Treaty of Ghent created this large manuscript map of Lake Superior to draw the international boundary between the United States and Canada.

This map is part of a larger archive, the Thomas Barclay collection (Coll. 26), related to the drawing of the Northeast boundary between British Canada and the United States.
