Image Info Former National President of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. She was born Lillian Marilla Nickerson Ames in Dover in 1844. Before marrying Michael Stevens, she taught at the Spruce Street and Stroudwater Schools in Westbrook.

She was elected the president of the Maine W.C.T.U. in 1878, and the president of the National W.C.T.U. in 1898. She later became the vice president at-large of the World W.C.T.U.
