The gentleman standing in the doorway of his house watching the Fourth of July parade was Rufus Mansur. The house was later in the way of new buildings, and was moved to 12 Water Street in Houlton.

Buildings from the left are Chas. A Lyons, book printer and binder; and the First National Bank in a small wooden building. In 1907 the First National Bank replaced its building with a Neo-Greek Revival Style building with huge granite pillars.

Tenney & Son dry goods store showed a huge advertisement on the company's parade float. Mr Tenney was also a director of the First National bank and a director of the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad.
