A black, ribbed wool cape, or mantle, includes an applied trim motif, known as passementerie, on both the front and back. The front of the cape has deep faux pleats that serve as the opening for the arms. The cape's collar is trimmed with ostrich feathers. It is lined (front only) with satin.
