Photographer Chansonetta Stanley Emmons photographed the tablet and boulder mark at the location on the Kennebec River where Benedict Arnold and his soldiers left the river for their portage to the Dead River on that historic march to Quebec in October of 1775. Chansonetta would have photographed this site after 1916 when the Daughters of the American Revolution placed the marker.
