Image Info For decades, the primary entrance to Maine General Hospital was a circular driveway off Arsenal Street, shown here in a photo taken from the upper level of the 1956 Pavilion. The portico was added to the entrance in 1903, when a new surgical pavilion was built to accommodate updated procedures and meet modern standards. The portico was removed in 1974 when the Southern Maine Radiation Therapy Institute was built.
