Pictured is Governor Brewster of Maine shaking hands with the first woman governor of the United States, Nellie T. Ross of Wyoming. They are standing in front of the Poland Spring House, flanked by several other governors who attended the convention.
Nellie Ross's late spouse, William Ross, was the governor of Wyoming from 1923-1924. He died unexpectedly due to complications after a surgery. Nelli ran for the governorship afterward and won in 1925.
