The postcard message read "Dear Lloyd: How is everything with you? I have just found your address out. Leon told me. I suppose you will be here before long. My address is Clifford Rowe Augusta Me. Machine Hun Co. Company K"
Both originally from Eddington, Pvt. Rowe and Cpl. Herrick enlisted in April 1917. They both served in the 103rd Infantry, Machine Gun Company, as part of the "Yankee Division." Although both were wounded in action, the two friends survived the war.
