Image Info Dr. Tetreau, head of Portland's Health Department, examined beer samples as a part of his department's ongoing efforts to ensure a safe food supply. The Portland Evening Express, on November 18th, 1935, featured a story, with this photo, about the workings of the Health Department. As one sub-headline noted, "Petulant Proprietors, Pouting Owners Get Little Sympathy" from the dedicated staff and inspectors.
