The American Committee for Relief in the Near East (ACRNE), also known as the American Committee for Armenian and Syrian Relief (ACASR), was founded in 1915 to assist displaced refugees from the Ottoman Empire. An initial focus provided relief to victims of the Armenian Genocide in modern-day Turkey.

A humanitarian organization, the ACRNE was spearheaded by the former U.S. Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire, Henry Morgenthau and philanthropist, Cleveland H. Dodge. In 1917, it launched a 30 million dollar campaign to assist regional victims of World War I.

The ACRNE was officially chartered by an Act of Congress in 1919. Over one hundred years later, it continues to operate under the name 'Near East Foundation' with programs in Armenia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Mali, Morocco, Palestine, Senegal, and the Sudan.
