Well-known early 20th century photographer, Chansonetta Stanley Emmons, learned photography from her older brothers F.E. and F.O. Stanley who rose to prominence after they invented a dry plate process.

Chansonetta traveled around New England with her daughter Dorothy photographing and painting. Her photographs focused on rural scenes, landscapes, people and their daily lives.
