Horse teams were used to haul logs out of the woods in the St. Agatha area until well after World War II. Sometimes an icer was used to make the logging roads easier to haul the huge logs out on. An icer was a horse drawn wooden box which contained water drawn from a nearby lake. The icer would be hauled over the logging roads releasing water onto roads and turning them to into ice. The iced roads made it easier for the horses to haul a sled load of logs.
