Image Info James "Mac" Pyle photographed this sunfish on August 16, 1937. Pyle was the editor and chief of "The Monhegan Press", an island newsletter that was published from 1938-1940.

Sunfish are slow-moving fish that float near the surface of the water. Although they still seen in the waters around Monhegan as of 2015, they are no longer desirable fish for the marketplace and are not actively fished.
