Image Info George Burnham and Charles Morrill founded Burnham & Morrill in 1867 to can meat, vegetables, and fish, including their "Cape Shore" corned cod. They were the largest cannery in Portland.

In 1913, they moved the factory to East Deering at the edge of Back Cove near Tukey's Bridge.
The label reads, "Cape Shore Canned Cod, Burnham & Morrill Co., Portland, ME."
