Image Info This is a view of the Rankin Block on Main Street at the intersection with North Main Street in Rockland. The Rankin Block was built by Constant Rankin in 1853. At the time of the photograph the first floor was occupied by Farrand & Spear, Grocers & Lime Burners; and by G.W. Brown & Co., Groceries & Ship Stores. According to a Rockland Directory from 1877 the apartments above were occupied by a ships carpenter, a sail maker, a blacksmith, a cooper, and a laborer.
