Image Info This home was built in 1899 for John Jackson Towle Jr. and Mary Holman Towle. The barn was annexed from the Billy Mitchell farm, shown on the right in this photograph.

John Jackson Towle Jr. was a farmer and assisted his father with their many orchards located in the East Dixfield and South Carthage area. He was also a Dixfield selectman in 1881.
In 1999 the building was purchased by the Dixfield Historical Society and houses its collections, archives, and The John L. Towle Antique Tool Museum.
