Image Info Card photograph of Commodore Robert Peary and his wife, Mrs. Josephine Peary, c. 1900. Robert Peary graduated from Bowdoin College in 1877 and soon after bought Eagle Island in Casco Bay. In 1909 in a dramatic journey through the Arctic he and his crew reached the North Pole.
