Rockport Harbor is central to the town of Rockport, Maine and situated at the termination of Goose River. Throughout the early part of the twentieth century, Rockport Harbor was increasingly industrialized and become critical to the economy of the town. Until a devastating fire in 1907, the harbor was the focal point of the local ice and lime industries and was the site of both large icehouses and lime kilns. Though the remains of the lime kilns have stayed at the head of the harbor, the heavy industrial focus of the harbor ended with these industries. This postcard focuses on the view overlooking town buildings and the water for which the scenic harbor, now the site of Marine Park, is known.
