Image Info Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Railroad, a Maine Two-Footer, operated through Franklin County from Farmington, where it connected with Maine Central Railroad, through Strong, where it branched to Bigelow on the east branch and to Rangeley on the west. Because of the terrain in the western mountains the rails were sometimes laid along the banks of natural waterways.
