Image Info Following dedication of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial Bridge, the new structure was opened to public traffic for the first time. Lining the bridge are alternating U.S. and Canadian flags, the latter the “Red Ensign” flag (with the UK “Union Jack” in the corner), as the later red and white maple leaf flag was not used until 1965.
