First known as the Methodist Episcopal Church, it was originally built "about 1844 or 1845" according to the book, "100 Years of Lubec History 1776-1976." It was renovated in 1899, placing the date of this photograph between 1899 and 1912.

In 1912 this former Methodist Church had its ridge bell tower and the front doors removed. A new separate square bell tower from ground up was built on the right front, with a stairway at 90 degrees added. The triangular gable glass was replaced by a stained glass circular window.

In 1934 the I.O.O.F. (Independent Order of Odd Fellows) purchased the property, deeding it in 1969 to the Rural Youth Corp. High school dances and similar events were held in the hall for a period of years before the building was abandoned.

Though this building still stands on School Street as of 2010, few Lubec residents will immediately recognize it.
