The Telegraph Block was built by E. W. and George I. Robinson in 1857 on the south side of the Lower Corner on Main Street next to the old Thomaston Grocery. George I. Robinson opened a drug store in the building and had a telegraph office in the back room. E. W. Robinson opened a tailoring business.

After George Robinson's death, the drug store was sold to Whitney and Brackett. School textbooks were sold here until the town furnished the books in 1890.

Whitney and Brackett, later known as Brackett's Drug store, reopened in the newly built Watts Block after the disastrous fire of 1915 destroyed four buildings in that proximity, including the Telegraph Block.
