Image Info Riverton Park opened in 1896 as a trolley park owned by the Portland Railroad Company.

The park, on the banks of the Presumpscot River in Portland, was successful until World War I. It was sold in 1921, and in 1923 reopened as an automobile resort featuring such attractions as a roller coaster, a penny arcade, and airplane swings.
This ride was at the hub of the amusement park.
