Image Info

Fish canneries on the shore at Brooklin, Maine, seen from the water ca. 1925. (Original courtesy of Bob McDonald) At this time, products were usually shipped out by the Eastern Steamship Company or other sailing schooners. Later, with no convenient water transportation, the Ramsdell cannery was abandoned, and the business was moved to Rockland, ME. In the upper left corner the tower of the Odd Fellows Hall (built late 19th century) can be seen.
