Image Info History of ownership in Sewall-Thompson families of York from 1790-1800 until purchase. Probably bought by Captain Samuel Sewall (1748-1824) of York for his wife Hannah (Moulton) Sewall (1756-1805) whom he married in 1773. In 1822 Samuel moved into daughter Susan's(1786-1864) house on York Street, York. Susan married in 1809 Captain John S. Thompson (1783-1863) of South Berwick. Marked "TC". Attributed to York cabinetmaker Thomas Chandler.

Stained mahogany on top and sides. Satinwood veneer, poplar, birch and basswood secondary woods. Bow front. High French feet. Front divided into 12 panels, each of which is covered by a flame grained satinwood veneer. Central drop-panel. Four oval brasses with bail handles. Four drawers.
