Image Info Mildred Giddings Burrage was a wide-ranging artist from Maine. At the age of twelve, her artistic talents prompted art lessons .Durring her attendance at Wheeler School in Providence, Rhode Island, Burrage studied art in Paris and Giverny, France.

Burrage was born in Portland, and lived in Togus, Kennebunkport, and Wiscasset. During the 1920s she focussed on painting portraits but starting with her move to Wiscasset in 1946, she changed her style to a more abstract artwork, including making mica-based collage paintings. Burrage stopped painting in 1980 at the age of 90, after a lifetime of critical acclaim.
