From June 29 to July 4, over a dozen governors from across the country and their families came to Maine to attend the seventeenth annual governors' convention in Poland.

During the week, organizers scheduled events in tandem with the convention. One such event was naval plane flights from Thompson Pond near Poland Springs. Pictured here is Governor Brewster of Maine sitting in one of these planes, the N.A.S Anacostia, preparing to take off.
