The Maine Historical Society
Vintage Maine Images grew out of The Maine Historical Society's online museum, the Maine Memory Network as a way to increase revenue for the region's historical societies, libraries, archives, and museums. Both websites utilize the same content, database, and servers.
The mission of the Maine Historical Society is to promote the understanding and enjoyment of Maine history. To carry out this mission, the Society collects, preserves, and exhibits important historical resources and treasures; facilitates research into family, local, regional, and national history; and provides educational opportunities that engage the public and make history accessible and meaningful. Partners have contributed images of a wide variety of historical items including photographs, letters, maps, journals, artifacts, and ephemera. A list of our Contributing Partners can be found on the Maine Memory Network: http://www.mainememory.net/user/search_CP.shtml.
